2023 reredos (altar) repair

In 2020 we discovered that the Victorian reredos of the church was in need of urgent repair. With the then upcoming major reordering works already being planned, it was decided that supports were to be applied to the area for protection, and the repair works to be carried out at the end of the main reordering project so that it would be completed for the main relaunch of St Helen’s to the public.

The works involved meticulously taking apart the reredos piece by piece, creating a solid back foundation for it to be relaid against, cleaning every section and then reassembling it to how it was before.
